Lesson 9: The Sequence to "Fetch" from the ground - Redd

Start with the setup - finger on the end of the item, use "HOLD" only if the dog needs extra help. Do so ONLY for a maximum of 4 days. The point is to get away from the "HOLD" as part of the retrieve process at this point in the training as you want the "HOLD" to be an implied, NOT spoken unless needed, command. Intro

Now, try to put ON the ground, with setup, and see if the dog understands the concept that "Fetch" = Fetch no matter what. This is a particularly tricky sequence as different dogs respond differently to the 1) absence of the Set-up and 2) their picture of the "Fetch" is now without your hand attached. Takes patience to get your dog to succeed on this very new and radically different shift in previously known mechanics and understanding.
